Collaborative Family Law Practices are becoming more common among Family Law Practitioners. However, as an experienced lawyer and mediator I have designed my own specific method of Collaborative Mediation. This method is set out in my book “What are we fighting for. A Peaceful Pathway for separating Couples”.
Collaborative Mediation is where I assist two parties, using mediation methods, provide guidance, information and assistance which will help you reach a settlement agreement. I also utilise the stages of this process to complete any financial disclosure requirements, explore all of your options and assist you in creating an agreement that suits the needs of both parties. This method allows both parties to 'win' and takes away the position-based negotiation style a usual mediation involves.
As part of the process, I encourage parties to invite other professionals to join part of our collaborative team, such as accountants, financial planners or counsellors, if the parties feel it could be of assistance. This will entirely depend on the parties needs.
Process:
This process is usually conducted over at least three structured meetings, but can take more or less time, depending on the individual situation.
Stage 1: One on one Intake Sessions with each party. This also involves the use of my program to gather all of the documents you need and to create a schedule of assets and liabilities.
Stage 2: First Joint Meeting to finalise the disclosure phase, complete an agreed schedule of assets and liabilities and start looking at options. You will then each have a further one on one with me to review and discuss your settlement options before moving to the final phase.
Stage 3: Second Joint Meeting is designed to bring everything together and assist the parties to reach an agreement.

Child Focused Mediation
From $1,200 per couple
Just need to talk about your children and how bet they will be cared for into the future? As your mediator, I can help to keep you both on track, despite your differences, your strong emotions and communication difficulties. In most cases, I can also help to relieve much of the anxiety you feel over these issues. The benefit of mediation is that you are able to focus on moving forward and finding a resolution.
My children’ mediation package includes all of the usual intake assessments, the use of my onboarding program to obtain all of your details and then a joint 2-3 hour session with me to guide and assist you in reaching solutions.
Costing is always difficult but I like to offer fixed fee packages to assist you in budgeting. Keep in mind that the costs for each party to engage a lawyer and negotiate their settlement or even prepare for a first court date can be anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 on average.
The total cost of my package is shared between the parties so can significantly reduce your overall costs.

I am a Nationally Accredited Mediator and have made the choice not to be a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner as I focus on out of court solutions only, therefore I cannot issue you with a s60I certificate to move on to court action if your mediation fails. My aim is to work with the couple to reach agreement and avoid court.

#Prior to this package many client choose to complete my “Finding Your Peaceful Pathway Online Course” for $695 and they are ready to go and have prepared eveything they need on their own.
